On March 26, 2018, Julie Peabody of KJP, as co-chair of the Real Estate Finance Committee of the Boston Bar Association, co-hosted a panel with the Affordable Housing Committee on the Fundamentals of Affordable Housing Finance at the BBA. The program provided attendees with an overview of the basic structure, elements and challenges of financing affordable housing projects.

The panel discussed a variety of methods of obtaining funding for affordable housing projects, including state and federal lending programs, low-income tax credits and other credits as well as participation by conventional lenders. Speakers also focused on the current political and legislative climate and its impact on the financing of affordable housing.

The panelists at this event were Kimberly L. Martin-Epstein of Hackett Feinberg P.C., Beth Elliot of MassHousing, Rebecca Frawley Wachtel of the Department of Housing and Community Development, Rick Muraida of the Rockland Trust Company, Patty DeAngelis of Murtha Cullina LLP and former General Counsel to the Massachusetts Development Finance Agency, and Jonathan Klein of The Community Builders, Inc.
